IAPS national finals await Perse Prep hockey team

The Perse Prep U11 boys’ hockey team have booked their spot in the national finals of the IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) Championships following victory in the East qualifiers.

The team remained unbeaten throughout the regional tournament, held at Framlingham College, to move through to the IAPS finals at Rugby School next month.

They got off to a great start with wins over Beeston Hall School (2-1) and Ipswich School (1-0) before drawing 0-0 with Dame Bradbury’s School.

A 3-0 triumph followed against Norwich School and the Prep team went on to top their group after goalless draws with Woodbridge School and Framlingham to move into the knockout stage.

They edged out Town Close School 3-1 on penalty strokes in the quarter-finals before beating Gresham’s 3-1 in the semi-finals.

This win set up a meeting with St Faith’s School in the final, where they held their nerve to come through 4-3 on penalty strokes.
