East finals beckon for Perse Prep hockey team

The Perse Prep U11 boys’ hockey team are through to the In2Hockey regional finals after finishing runners-up in the county qualifiers.

In the round-robin tournament, the team enjoyed 2-0 wins over the Stephen Perse Foundation, Kimbolton School and King’s College School.

They went on to lose 2-1 to St Faith’s School and draw 1-1 with Wisbech Grammar School.

Despite a 1-0 defeat to St John’s College School in their final match, the boys had done enough to come second in the group and reach the East finals at Gresham’s on 18 March.

Prep Head of Hockey Ed McGregor said: “It was a great achievement to qualify through to the next round of this tournament. Well done to all the boys.”

In the meantime, the Prep team also have the Independent Association of Prep Schools national finals to look forward to on 2 March after winning the regional qualifiers earlier this month.
