Perse hockey team crowned Cambridgeshire champions

The Perse boys’ U14 hockey team are through to the East round of the national schools championships after earning the Cambridgeshire title.

They began by beating Kimbolton School 2-0 in the round-robin competition at The Leys, with Alex Filionescu scoring with a strike from the top of the D and Harry Moffat netting from a rebound off a penalty corner.

A 3-1 win followed against The Leys, with Tommy Goldsmith on target with a brilliant backhand volley before the home side equalised. However, further goals from Henry Denny-Gouldson and Harry Simpson-Biles sealed the victory and the county crown.

The team now move on to regional tournament at Wilberforce Road on 10 February.
