Perse Prep hockey team in excellent form at national finals

The Perse Prep girls’ U11 hockey team put in a strong performance to finish joint-fifth in the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) national finals at Millfield School.

In the group stage, they got off to a winning start by beating Taunton School 1-0 only to lose by the same score against Eagle House School.

The girls responded by prevailing 2-0 against Cargilfield before being defeated by Chesham Prep School by the same score.

However, a goalless draw with The Blue Coat School Birmingham was enough to give The Perse runners-up a spot in the pool and send them into the last eight of the competition.

Unfortunately, having held Hoe Bridge School to a 0-0 stalemate after extra time in their quarter-final, they lost narrowly on penalty strokes.

Perse Prep Head of Girls’ Hockey Nicky Clark said: “It has been a pleasure to work with such an enthusiastic and hard-working group of girls.

“They performed brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I am very proud of all of their achievements and to finish in the top eight nationally is a fantastic end to the season.”
