Perse students on target at national championships

The Perse representatives were in excellent form as they joined a field of almost 150 participants for the event at Bisley’s National Shooting Centre.

The team of Will Bacon, Fleur Christmas, Ewan Smith (all Upper Sixth), Liliana French, Eleanor Brinsden, Cara Hollis, Eos Liao and William Smith (all Lower sixth) were runners-up in the eights competition with a total of 2,970. 067.

Will Bacon, Liliana French, Eleanor Brinsden and Fleur Christmas also took third spot in the fours event with an overall score of 1,501.039.

In the individual competition, Will Bacon was eighth overall with 379.015, earning a medal and badge for his efforts, while Eleanor Brinsden (18th), Fleur Christmas (24th), Liliana French (26th), Eos Liao (27th) and Cara Hollis (28th) all picked up badges for finishing in the top 30.

Will Bacon and Fleur Christmas (374.005) finished third in their respective age groups, while Carla Campos Zanetti Gerosa and Maia Polonius (both Year 9) were second and third respectively in their age category with scores of 365.007 and 351.003.

Meanwhile, Will Bacon and Liliana French came eighth in the senior pairs with a total of 752.023.

Team coach Kevin Pilcher said: “I’m really proud of every member of the team. They all stepped up to the plate and did a sterling job.”
