Perse hockey team seals county title treble

The Perse U12 girls’ hockey team have made it a hat-trick of county titles for the school this season.
They performed sensationally in the Cambridgeshire finals at Wilberforce Road, winning all six matches in the round-robin competition without conceding a goal.
Back-to-back 2-0 wins over the Stephen Perse Foundation and Kimbolton School laid the foundations, with Amber Smith and Zoe Petherham both supplying a goal in each game.
The run continued with a 3-0 victory against King’s Ely, with Olivia Kaser, Lottie Denny-Gouldson and Amber Smith on target, and a 2-0 triumph over St Faith’s School courtesy of Zoe Petherham and Amber Smith.
Amber Smith struck twice as The Perse beat Saffron Walden County High School 4-0, with Lottie Denny-Gouldson and Olivia Kaser also on the score sheet.
They sealed the title by defeating St Mary’s School 4-0 thanks to another Amber Smith double and goals from Zoe Petherham and Lottie Denny-Gouldson.
The team, which also featured Chrysalis Voultsou, Tessa Connor, Athene Ross and Eleanor Blazeby, will now play in the East finals at Redbridge next month.
Their success comes after the U14 and U13 girls’ hockey teams were also recently crowned county schools champions. Throughout the Cambs tournaments, the three sides scored an incredible 48 goals in total while conceding just one.
