Perse hockey team claims county title

The Perse U14 girls’ hockey team have been crowned Cambridgeshire champions after achieving a stunning performance in the county tournament.
They won every game in the round-robin competition, held at Wilberforce Road, without conceding a goal to book a place in the East round of the national schools championships in November.
The team opened their account with a 2-0 victory over the Stephen Perse Foundation, thanks to goals from Poppy Rayner and Willow Wallman, and followed up with back-to-back 5-0 triumphs against Kimbolton School and The Leys to take the title.
Elodie Bowen-Sanders and Willow Wallman both scored twice against Kimbolton, with Verity Valentine also on target. Willow Wallman and Verity Valentine netted doubles against The Leys with Elodie Bowen-Sanders also hitting the back of the net.
