Cambridgeshire honours for Perse hockey team

The Perse girls’ U13 hockey team have clinched the Cambridgeshire title after an impressive series of displays in the county competition at Wilberforce Road.
Their success makes it a Perse county double following on from the girls’ U14 side being crowned Cambs schools champions at the same venue last week.
The team launched their campaign with a 2-0 win over St John’s College School, courtesy of goals from Isabella Bradley and Eva Jonas, who also provided the decisive finish in the following 1-0 victory against Wisbech Grammar School.
They went on to top their group by beating St Mary’s School 6-0, with an Elodie Bowen-Sanders double and goals from Orlaith Carey, Isabella Bradley, Stuthi Kambli and Emma Walshe, before prevailing 5-0 against King’s Ely, thanks to Orlaith Carey scoring twice with Elodie Bowen-Sanders, Maya Menon and Alexandra Goodricke also on target.
Goals from Elodie Bowen-Sanders and Orlaith Carey saw The Perse edge a 2-1 triumph over Kimbolton School in the semi-finals to set up another meeting with Wisbech in the final.
Isabella Bradley, Eva Jonas and Elodie Bowen-Sanders were on the score sheet in a 3-0 win as The Perse, who also featured Katie Bridge and Olivia Gohel in their squad, clinched the county honours.
They will now play in the East round of the England Hockey Schools Championships at Harleston next month.
