If you do need to come on to the school site, you will be asked to wear a face covering for meetings inside and use hand gel on arrival and encouraged to regularly wash your hands. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation at this time.
The 5 S’s
To keep pupils and staff safe, we will follow the 5 S’s at all times.
The Perse Upper will operate Covid-secure measures for pupils in school. These include:-
- Strict adherence to HANDS, FACE, SPACE, VENTILATION advice.
- Upper pupils and staff must wear face coverings inside (unless medically exempt) except where:
a) Pupils and staff are actively consuming food/drinks in the dining hall/Sixth Form Café/Sixth Form Centre.
These spaces are very well ventilated and frequently cleaned, but pupils also have the option of eating and drinking outside.
b) Pupils and staff are in a lesson/registration/tutorial period or exam/test settings. In these controlled situations, face coverings are not mandatory for teaching and learning reasons. Covid risks are mitigated by pupils sitting at individual desks/work stations spaced apart in well ventilated rooms. The desks/work stations are cleaned before and after use.
c) Situations where 2m+ social distancing in well ventilated spaces is possible – for example, in some offices and small teaching groups.
- Face coverings will therefore be mandatory for Upper pupils and staff in communal spaces, corridors, the library, the medical centre, assemblies and in form rooms when not used for lessons/registration/tutorials.
- Face coverings will also be mandatory in lunch queues and on school transport.
- Face coverings do not need to be worn outside.
- Care must be taken to put face coverings on and off safely. They should be stored safely in a clean container and used coverings must be disposed of in bins.
After careful consideration, the decision has been taken that the school bus service and the daily shuttle buses between Prep/Pelican and Prep/Upper will cease temporarily during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This decision has been taken with regret, but The Perse has concluded that the operation of a bus service which brings together in close proximity children from different year groups and different Perse schools is not consistent with the bubble infection control measures recommended to combat Covid-19. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
However, we plan to reinstate the bus services from September 2021. For more information on routes, times, prices and booking, please click here.
