A level results 2020
13 Aug 2020
Congratulations to our Upper Sixth students who have received their A level and Pre U results today.
Three-quarters (75%) of Perse students achieved three or more grades at A or A* (or Pre U equivalent) and 66 Perse students obtained 3 or more A* grades (or Pre U equivalent).
The cancellation of public exams due to the Covid-19 pandemic has meant that 2020 A level and Pre U grades have been calculated by exam boards. They have used a process that takes centre assessed (teacher) grades, which boards statistically standardise using an Ofqual formula. This is designed to make the grades awarded fairer (between centres) and maintain historic standards (so that 2020 grading is similar to prior years).
The exam board standardised A level (and Pre U equivalent) 2020 results are as follows:
|Year (% cumulative)||A*||A||B||C||D||E||U|
A summary of the exam board standardised A Level and Pre U grades can be found here.
Final 2020 A level and Pre U grades will not be known until January 2021, as students who are not satisfied with their exam board standardised grades can appeal and/or sit public exams this autumn. The best grade out of the autumn exam, appeal, or the exam board standardised grade will be the final result.
Head Ed Elliott commented: “We congratulate the Upper Sixth on achieving these excellent results in difficult circumstances. The grades achieved are the product of two years of hard work and dedicated study. We wish our leavers well as they progress to university or take a gap year.”
