Prestigious geography award for Perse student
20 Mar 2020
Tingkai Huang (Lower Sixth) is set to receive a Royal Geography Society Excellence Award.
The accolade comes in recognition of Tingkai being among the students who attained one of the highest GCSE geography marks in the UK in 2019. Along with fellow geography students, Tingkai sat three papers in his exams.
He said: “I’m very pleased, but really surprised. I revised really hard for it, but I wasn’t expecting this.
“I was interested in human geography, in particular. We looked at quite a few case studies in the UK, such as the flooding in Somerset, as well as the drought in Australia and inequality in the Congo.
“Studying geography really helped me develop my essay-writing skills and there are certain aspects, such as geology, which will help me in the future with studying science.”
