Festive fun had by Perse pupils on German Christmas markets visit
12 Dec 2019
Thirty-eight Perse pupils from Years 7 to 9 and five staff enjoyed a festive trip to the Christmas markets of Germany.
The group visited four of Cologne’s six markets on their first full day and even managed to fit in a visit to the Lindt chocolate factory and museum on the banks of the River Rhine, with the pupils especially savouring the famous chocolate fountain.
After all the shopping for chocolates and gift-hunting around the markets, the group had a well-deserved break on board the afternoon Advent cruise boat, and even had the chance to meet Nikolaus (St Nicholas) himself! In the evening, those who had enough energy took to the ice rink.
The party headed back to Cambridge the next day, squeezing in one final market visit in the beautiful city of Aachen, home of the UNESCO world heritage-protected printen biscuits.
