Perse Suzhou Founding Principal takes up post
13 Nov 2019
We are delighted to announce that our Founding Principal for The Perse School Suzhou has now taken up her post in China.
Suzhou is a historic city of canals and waterways 100km – 25 minutes on the bullet train – from Shanghai and is sometimes referred to as the Venice of the East. The Perse School Suzhou will be situated in the core of the city, Gusu District, on a tree-lined avenue called Jiuxueqian (Old School Front).
Our Founding Principal is Naomi Atkins who joins the wider Perse family from her previous role as Vice-Principal at The Stephen Perse Foundation.
Naomi’s wealth of experience in school leadership in Cambridge as well as her previous years as Head of Senior School and Vice-Principal at Dulwich College Suzhou and Deputy Head of Seniors at Dulwich Beijing, as well as in other key roles in Malaysia and Indonesia, mean that Naomi is particularly well-placed to head up the first Perse School in China.
Naomi joins a growing project team in Suzhou who are handling all the marketing, admissions and administration needs, as well as the refurbishment of the school facilities. Teacher recruitment will follow in the next months, all managed by the Suzhou team, with the school scheduled to open in August 2020.
