Three Perse students have been awarded prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarships after being identified as potential future leaders in engineering and technical design.
Lower Sixth students Oscar Stanford, Thomas Hodges and Oliver Sharp have gained the sought-after scholarships which provide them with a £600 award to enhance their A level studies, as well as a range of activities to boost their understanding and experience of engineering.
To earn a scholarship, they had to successfully complete a detailed application form, sit a two-hour aptitude test and undergo an interview held at a top engineering university.
Matched with a sponsoring company from the engineering field, Oscar, Thomas and Oliver will now have the opportunity to gain an insight into the business and benefit from mentoring and possible work experience. Those providing support to the Perse students include ARM Holdings, MathWorks and an Arkwright benefactor.
They will formally receive their scholarships at a ceremony, supported by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, in London next month.
