The Perse School number one in The Times league table of co-ed schools GCSE results
2 Sep 2019
The Times has placed The Perse top of the league table of 193 independent co-ed schools’ I/GCSE results.
This was the fourth time in recent years that The Perse has achieved this feat which is testimony to the year-on-year success of Perse students in their I/GCSE exams.
When all 338 participating independent schools were ranked by the percentage of 9 and 8 grades (the two highest marks in reformed GCSEs), The Perse were fourth nationally with 84% of all I/GCSE entries being graded at 9 or 8.
Head Ed Elliott commented: “Success at GCSE is very important as these are the only public exams the students have completed at the point they apply to university in the Upper Sixth. As such, universities use GCSE grades, along with A level predictions, the school’s reference and the applicant’s personal statements to decide who to offer places to.
“By doing so well at GCSE, Perse students have given themselves an excellent foundation for Sixth Form study and university applications.”
