Double success for Perse golfer at prestigious tournaments
12 Sep 2019
Harry Howell (Year 7) has swung his way to success in two major schools golf competitions.
He recently won the U12 category at the prestigious Stowe Putter – the oldest prep school golf competition in the country – finishing five shots clear of his nearest rival. It was a particularly satisfying victory for Harry as he had previously finished second and third in this tournament.
Harry, who plays off a 12 handicap, followed it up by winning the U11 title at the ISGA Radley Putter, finishing with an impressive total of 60 points in a modified Stableford format event.
He was joined in the competition at Radley College by fellow Perse golfer Harry Purvis (Year 9), who played some excellent shots, including a splendid birdie at the daunting par 3 eighth hole where competitors have to play over water.
Both players will be representing The Perse again at the ISGA Junior Schools Cup at Sunningdale Heath on 19 September.
