Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre trip inspires Perse Pelican pupils
4 Jun 2019
Going behind the scenes at the Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre provided a thrill for Year 2 pupils as part of their topic ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’
Theatre Director in Residence Matt Hawksworth showed the children around and told them about the productions that the Upper students perform on the stage, while they were also given a demonstration of the technical facilities, including lighting and props.
The visit gave them a special insight into what it takes to put on a show as they build up to their own end-of-year production. They will also be learning a variety of skills including giving stage directions, writing a play script, building confidence to perform to an audience, learning about film making, creating scenery, costumes and even exploring lighting and make-up in preparation for the performances in July.
Pelican Head Sarah Waddington said: “The Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre at the Upper is a wonderful facility that every child across the school can benefit from. As such, Year 2 loved discovering how a theatre works and we are looking forward to seeing how the visit has inspired them when they perform their end-of-year show.”
