Mozart’s Requiem strikes a chord at Perse Symphonic Showcase Concert
19 Mar 2019
Perse musicians came together to give a wonderful display of virtuosity in the school’s Symphonic Showcase Concert at Saffron Hall.
The Senior Trumpet Ensemble opened the show with a rendition of the Mars suite from Holst’s The Planets before the Symphony Orchestra enraptured the audience with their performance of movements from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
Extracts from Frank Bridge’s Suite for String Orchestra were performed by the Perse Soloists, while Wind Band 1 presented Ronde for Isolde by David Bedford.
The Senior Chorale and Perse Concert Orchestra came together for the second half of the recital with a powerful performance of Mozart’s Requiem in D minor. The choir was joined by Perse Head of Voice Chloe Beresford-Jones (soprano), Amy Shaw (mezzo-soprano), Alexander Gebhard (tenor) and Timothy Murphy (bass) as the Symphonic Showcase Concert came to a stunning conclusion.
