The Perse School has been named The Sunday Times East Anglia Independent Secondary School of the Year.
The Perse has also claimed top spot in The Sunday Times Parent Power rankings for independent schools in the region. The annual Sunday Times schools guide lists the 2,000 highest-achieving schools in the UK, based on exam results.
This summer, 95.1% of entries achieved A*-B at A level, while 94.2% of GCSE entries were graded at A*-A/9-7 – a 4.7 percentage point increase on last year. As a result, The Perse has moved up a place to joint 13th in the national Parent Power standings.
Explaining why The Perse had won the accolade, Alistair McCall, editor of Parent Power, said: “Far more important than a strong league table showing are the countless personal success stories that lie behind such outstanding results.
“The Perse ensures its boys and girls stand the best possible chance of achieving that success both inside and outside of the classroom. Great teaching and outstanding extra-curricular opportunities give Perse students the best possible grounding from which to go on to make an impact on the world.”
Head Ed Elliott said: “I am pleased that the endeavour and achievements of Perse pupils, and the staff who teach and support them, has been recognised by this Sunday Times award.”
