Perse hockey team qualifies for regional finals

8 Nov 2018

The Perse School girls’ U14 hockey team are through to the East finals of the Investec English Schools Championships after qualifying from their regional round tournament in Bedford.

They opened their account with a 2-0 victory against Haileybury with Bella Howarth and May Busher on the score sheet.

May Busher’s goal was not enough as the team lost 2-1 to The King’s School, Canterbury in their second group match, but they finished runners-up in the pool following a 3-0 win over Bedford Girls’ School thanks to a May Busher double and a strike from Holly Smith.

In the play-offs, the team took on Framlingham College in a close-fought game with both sides creating opportunities and The Perse defending well against some fast attacking play from their opponents. However, May Busher was again on target to clinch a 1-0 triumph and secure The Perse’s place in the regional finals at Redbridge on 22 November.
