Perse hockey team qualifies for regional finals

The Perse School U13 girls’ team are through to the East finals of the England Hockey In2 Hockey Championships after finishing runners-up in the county tournament.
They got off to a great start with a 7-0 victory over Joyce Frankland Academy Newport and a 4-0 win over The King’s School Peterborough. Further triumphs followed as The Perse defeated St Mary’s School 5-0 and St John’s College School 4-0.
Despite being held to a 1-1 draw by King’s Ely in their final pool match, the team topped their group and went into a play-off pool where they faced the winners and runners-up of the other group.
The Perse beat Kimbolton School 4-0 in their first game only to lose 3-1 to St Faith’s School in their final match. However, they finished second on goal difference behind overall champions King’s Ely to secure one of the two places up for grabs in the regional finals, which take place at Bedford Hockey Centre on 29 November.
Captain May Busher was the team’s top scorer with 14 goals, while Holly Smith weighed in with eight goals.
