Prep Summer Concerts go with a swing
25 Jun 2018
Audiences enjoyed two enchanting evenings of music from Prep pupils at the Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre.
Children performed in an impressive variety of music ensembles and choirs sang a selection of uplifting and memorable songs in the summer shows.
The Year 3 and 4 Summer Concert opened with delightful performances from each Year 3 class which highlighted the inclusive nature of the concerts. The Year 3 and 4 Choir’s performance of English Country Garden was particularly charming, with children singing the different parts with gusto.
The concert culminated in a fabulous finale of Conquer’s Quest, written by Lesley Harris and adapted for the Prep by Paul Harris, the School’s Director of Music.
The Year 5 and 6 Summer Concert showcased the wealth of musical talent amongst our senior children. Mr Harris praised the children’s “dedication to the music ensembles” and “their ability to rise to the occasion and perform to such a high standard”.
Highlights of the concert included a vibrant performance of We Go Together by the Girls’ Choir, a lively rendition of Tequila by the Swing Band and a dramatic performance of Chameleon by the Percussion Group.
Children flooded the stage with singing and smiles in their performance of Happy, creating an uplifting and rousing finale.
