Perse Promenade Concert proves a summer sensation
22 Jun 2018
Music filled a sunny summer evening at the inaugural outdoor Perse Promenade Concert.
The audience was treated to a wide range of sounds from Grieg to Gershwin and Michael Jackson to Rossini in the court outside the Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre.
All the Perse’s large ensembles – three string orchestras, one full orchestra, two percussion ensembles, three jazz/swing bands and three wind bands – and one choir took part in the concert.
The event culminated with a performance of the William Tell Overture from the 250-strong Perse Mighty Orchestra.
Assistant Director of Music Ben Wingfield said: “A combination of sun, great performances and an informal buzz helped to make our last major concert of the year a really special event. We do hope it can become an annual summer event.”
