Perse hockey teams are set for another bite of the cherry in their bids to reach the England Hockey Schools Championships national finals.

Both the U16 and U14 boys’ hockey teams face play-off matches in order to qualify for the national stages after finishing runners-up in their respective East finals tournaments at Norwich on Thursday.

The U16 team had faced a busy schedule this week, having also played in the regional qualifiers at Ipswich on Tuesday, earning their place in the East finals following victories against Spalding Grammar School (3-0), Joyce Frankland Academy (8-0), Gresham’s School (3-0) and Ipswich School (1-0).

In the East finals, they beat The Leys 1-0 in their opening game, but had to settle for second place following a loss to Stamford School.

The U14 team also got off to a winning start in the East finals by edging out Norwich School 3-2 before being defeated by Felsted School.

Opponents and dates for the play-offs are yet to be confirmed.
