Perse golfers get in the swing with county success

Oliver Brunt (Year 8) belied his age to win the U18 title at the Cambridgeshire Schools Golf Championships.
He played some outstanding golf to post a gross score of 76 (+4) and be crowned individual champion in the tournament at St Ives Golf Club – an exceptional achievement as he is just 13 years old.
He will now go on to represent Cambridgeshire in the NASUWT South East of England Schools Championships at Bury St Edmunds as well as play in the English Schools U16 national final at Thetford in July.
Oliver, who will play for England against Scotland in the inaugural ISGA International Match over Easter, also enjoyed success at the county championships with Oscar Earle (Year 10) and Will McKernan (Year 8) in the team competition. They helped The Perse take runners-up spot in the U16 event.
Meanwhile, Oliver and Will performed well representing The Perse at the regional round of the ISGA Junior League at Collingtree Park.
The format of the competition was Stapleford with every player playing off a handicap of 36. Oliver was top scorer with 65 points and Will contributing 41 to give The Perse a total of 106 points, enough to claim second place and ensure progress to the Junior League finals at Radley in June.
These results followed on from the Perse senior team of Oscar, Oliver and Alex Bedford (Lower Sixth) being narrowly edged out 110 points to 101 by Felsted School in the ISGA Match Play regional final at Gosfield Lakes.
