Perse pupil aims to be sharp at British Youth Fencing Championships

Adrianne Lin (Year 7) is relishing the chance to test herself against the best in the country after qualifying for the British Youth Fencing Championships.

The Perse pupil performed well in the U12 girls’ foil competition at the recent Eastern Region Youth Championships to gain a spot in the national finals, which take place at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield in May.

Adrianne, who took up the sport three years ago after being intrigued by it, said: “I’m really excited. Not many people do fencing, but it’s really good fun.”

She continues to train each week with Cambridgeshire Fencing Club and hopes her efforts will pay off at the national championships.

Adrianne said: “I’m hoping to do well. There will be lots of good fencers and I haven’t taken part in a competition at this level before, but I’m really looking forward to it.”
