Pelican pupils go on the run in Charity Marathon
27 Mar 2018
Pelican pupils put their best foot forward to take part in the School’s Charity Marathon.
The event began with a warm-up in the hall, stretching and jumping. Everyone then took part, from Nursery to Year 2, running enthusiastically around as many laps of the Pelican School as they could with many children achieving over 4km. After each lap they eagerly received a stamp on their cards.
The aim of the marathon mission was to raise funds for the Magpas Air Ambulance Service and Starlight, which provides entertainment for seriously and terminally ill children in hospitals and hospices.
Pelican Head Sarah Waddington was delighted with how the event had gone.
She said: “The children loved taking part in our annual Charity Marathon. They enjoyed seeing how many times they could go around the school, whilst raising money for charity. They challenged themselves to run “one more lap” and we were delighted by their endurance.
“Magpas and Starlight were the children’s chosen charities and we hope we’ve been able to raise as much money as possible for these worthy causes.”
