National Children’s Orchestra beckons for Perse musicians
22 Jan 2018
Adelaide Harliono-Evans (Year 8) and Diana Borrell (Year 9) have both earned places in the National Children’s Orchestra’s Main Orchestra for 2018.
Both Perse pupils were selected for the Main Orchestra after undergoing auditions for the NCO, which marks its 40th anniversary this year.
Cellist Adelaide, who won the Perse Musician of the Year title last year, was a member of the Main Orchestra in 2017, while this will be viola player Diana’s first season with the Main Orchestra, having previously performed with the NCO’s U13 and U12 Orchestras.
Adelaide is also one of only two NCO musicians to have been awarded a prestigious Levenshulme Trust Arts Scholarship.
The Main Orchestra have concerts scheduled at Bristol’s Colston Hall on 8 April, Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on 4 August and the Southbank Centre in London on 9 December.
Listen to Adelaide talk about her previous experience of being involved in the NCO’s Main Orchestra.
The Perse will also be well represented in the NCO’s age group orchestras during 2018.
Year 8 pupils Isabella Li-Yan-Hui and William Dickens have been selected for the U13 Orchestra, while Adrianne Lin (Year 7) will feature in the U12 Orchestra.
