Perse pupils gain prestigious engineering scholarships
23 Oct 2017
Six Perse pupils have been awarded Arkwright Engineering Scholarships after being identified as potential future leaders in engineering and technical design.
Year 11 students Lachlan Smith, Macsen Deane, Jonah Lehner, Masaki Hattori, Richard Hughes and George Palozzi have earned the sought-after scholarships – the highest number of pupils from The Perse in a single year and the most of any school in the country.
Arkwright Scholarships provide students with a £600 award to enhance their A level studies and a range of activities to boost their understanding and experience of engineering.
The scholarships are respected by leading universities and companies and are supported by top engineering organisations such as Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and National Grid.
To gain a scholarship, the pupils had to successfully complete a detailed application form, a two-hour aptitude test and an interview held at a top engineering university.
They will be formally presented with their scholarships at a ceremony supported by The Institution of Engineering and Technology at the end of this month.
