Perse golfers perform well in ISGA team tournament

13 Sep 2017

Oliver Brunt (Year 9) and Will McKernan (Year 8) joined forces to help The Perse to third place in the team event at the ISGA Radley Putter tournament at Radley College, Oxford.

In the modified stapleford competition, which saw golfers from 23 teams playing off a 36 handicap, Oliver and Will’s efforts were only bettered by winners Millfield School and runners-up Loretto.

Oliver also won the individual event with a fantastic plus-6 score of 66 points.

At one stage, he was minus-2 following birdies at the second, third, ninth and 10th holes before deteriorating weather slowed his progress, but he finished strongly and produced a very impressive performance.

Will also performed well, almost reaching the green at the 268-yard par 4 ninth hole and hitting some very good irons on the par 3 holes.

The Perse team will now focus on the ISGA Matchplay and HMC Foursomes competitions in early October, while Oliver and Will will also be representing the school in the ISGA Junior League throughout the year.
