Perse ballerina performs in English Youth Ballet
Rebecca Burrows (Year 11) will perform in the English Youth Ballet’s production of Coppélia, showcasing at the Corn Exchange Theatre in Stamford this week.
The performance, taking place on Friday 14 July at 7.30pm and Saturday 15 July at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, follows the escapades of the protagonist, Franz and how he comically falls in love with a beautiful, life-like doll. The doll – Coppélia – is created by the eccentric, yet mysterious inventor, Dr Coppelius.
Rebecca has been a ballerina for 13 years, starting when she was aged 3. She has only be involved with the English Youth Ballet since this year, auditioning for Coppélia in March.
To win the role, Rebecca had to compete against 250 hopeful dancers in two auditions which were held on the Stamford stage. Listen to an interview with Rebecca below about how she feels in preparation for the performance:
