Cadet Force join RAF to learn new skills

The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) from The Perse met bright and early on Saturday morning with lots of enthusiasm ready for a weekend of training with the RAF.

The first activity of the weekend took place at RAF Honington where pupils spent the day practicing shooting skills in the RAF’s indoor simulator, which enabled the cadets to perfect their technique, ready for the following day’s shooting on an actual range.

The cadets worked extremely hard and maintained great focus during the drills. Sergeant Sanderson praised our cadets for their skills and dedication. Other activities included a range of first aid techniques such as practicing the recovery position and discussing the best ways to respond to different emergency situations.

On Sunday, after a room and kit inspection the team practised their load, shoot and carry drills in order to make the shooting both safe and effective. The cadets also spent some time helping each other to disassemble and reassemble rifles, with the older cadets showing the ropes to the younger Lance Corporals.

A special mention must go to the prize winners Amy Xu, Matt Dougherty and Henry Clark, who showed outstanding skills during the weekend.
