Team GB’s Olympic Golden Girls Launch New Hockey Initiative at The Perse
Olympic Gold Medallists Kate Richardson-Walsh, OBE and Helen Richardson-Walsh, MBE are in Cambridge today to inspire the next generation of young people to take up sport and learn to play hockey.
Kate and Helen are spending the day at local primary schools, sharing the stories of their journey to Rio where they won gold medals as part of the GB Hockey team.
After meeting with children across the city, Kate and Helen will launch a new Primary School Hockey Initiative for Cambridge.
The initiative, which is being run by The Perse, will offer free hockey coaching to children from local primary schools. Pupils will be given the opportunity to try the sport and benefit from coaching by former England and GB hockey players who work at the School.
This evening, Kate and Helen will join 200 dinner guests to help raise money for the charity Power2inspire in a showcase event supported by Countryside Properties.
