It’s ‘The Night before Christmas’ at the Prep
8 Dec 2016
This week Year 3 students gave a magical performance of The Night Before Christmas at the Prep. The cast performed with verve and vibrant enthusiasm in an enchanting play that weaved a mixture of Christmas carols and original songs into a unique retelling of the Christmas story.
The children brought the beautiful story to life with their acting, dancing and angelic singing. The lovely array of Christmas knitwear filled the stage with Christmas sparkle and colour. Cassius described the play as “exciting and fun because everyone’s joining in and it makes me feel Christmassy”. Izzy particularly loved “the singing and the disco dancing!”
The play felt like a truly family occasion. Parents and older siblings enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit and singing along to the carols at the end of the play. The highlight for Chris was having his family watch him perform “on the Prep stage for the first time.”
The blend of music and poetry created a colourful and magical production with a sprinkle of festive humour.
The production was written especially for children at the Prep by Charlie Bown and Lorraine Hull.
