Perse student is Principal 2nd Violin for the National Youth Orchestra

Patrick Bevan, 17, has been appointed Principal 2nd Violin for the National Youth Orchestra.  The Upper Sixth student has been playing with the orchestra for the last three years and is looking forward to taking on this new role, where he will be responsible for 20 other violinists.

Every year around 800 young people from across the UK audition for a coveted place with the orchestra, which is made up of 164 teenagers all with Grade 8 Distinction in their instrument.

NYO 2017’s activities start this December when Patrick and other Section Principals will be collaborating with Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and performing with them on stage at the Barbican in London.

Patrick will also be taking part in a series of Inspire Events, working alongside young people to encourage their passion for music.

Listen below to hear Patrick talking more about his role with the National Youth Orchestra.
