Young Perse Golfers Excel in Radley Putter

14 Oct 2016

William Mckernan, (Yr 7), Oliver Brunt (Yr 8) and Oscar Earle (Yr 9) represented The Perse last Sunday in the ISGA Radley Putter Golf Competition, held at Radley College, Oxford.

Playing in an adjusted Stapleford format, with all competitors playing off a 36 handicap, The Perse finished a very credible 4th out of 25 teams, with Oscar (who plays off 9) scoring 62 points and Oliver (who plays off 11) 57 points.

William, playing off 23, also played impressively, scoring 40 points in his first outing for the school.

The team were leading after 9 holes and Oscar had an excellent chance of winning the individual competition until a lost ball (not out of bounds but under a leaf in the light rough!) on the 16th led which to a very unfortunate blobbed hole.

Oscar and Oliver have already represented the Senior Golf Team this term and this was a glimpse into a bright future for our Perse Golf students.
