An Enduring Walk raises over £2300 for the School
Stretching over 192 miles from St Bees to Robin Hood Bay, passing through three National Parks en route, the Coast to Coast walk is no easy feat. Between 9th – 21st July 2016 two current Perse Parents, Angela Mason and Sarah Pitchford, embarked on this enduring walk to raise money for the School’s ‘An Enduring Gift’ campaign.
The Great British weather didn’t disappoint, with conditions ranging from thick cloud and torrential rain to scorching sun. Despite this, the Perse team enjoyed some glorious views and plenty of camaraderie with their fellow walkers. This camaraderie was the high point for Sarah, who spoke of their experiences helping to pull other walkers out of peat bogs, sharing sandwiches and talc to soothe soaked feet, and encouraging each other on when the walk got tough.
Angela said “It was all fantastic, from the training walks in rain and sleet around Cambridge to the last tiring miles into Robin Hood Bay. Enormous thanks to our families for letting us go away for two weeks and all the generous sponsors!”.
