National Finals victory for the Junior General Knowledge team
On Sunday 19 June, the Junior General Knowledge team of Jude Burling (captain), Rachel Bentham, Juliet Clubb, Edward Gaskarth, Alexander Walker and Henry Yates travelled to Hereford Cathedral School for the National Finals of Junior Schools’ Challenge.
The team was triumphant, winning all three rounds by over 400 points. Most of the team members were runners-up in the Nationals last year when they were in Year 7, so that experience gave them a helpful advantage.
Other schools competing on the day were: The Dragon School Oxford; Hereford C S; Nottingham H S and Sacred Heart G S Newry. Some of the other traditionally successful schools such as Haberdashers’, King Edward’s Birmingham and Lancaster RGS had been knocked out in regional or inter-regional rounds.
Successive Perse teams have won the Junior Nationals four times in the last six years (runners up in the other two years). Congratulations to the team on this notable achievement.
