The Perse School

8 Jul 2016

Perse pupils have achieved some of their best ever results in the Junior Maths Olympiad.

The Olympiad is the prestigious follow-on competition from the Junior Maths Challenge, from which the top-scoring 1,200 pupils nationally are selected to take part. Students have two hours to tackle six fiendish problems, for which full written solutions are required.

Eleven Perse pupils were invited, going on to achieve some exceptional results in the competition. Each of the pupils received a Merit certificate for the high quality of their solutions, with six also being awarded a Distinction certificate – placing them in the top 250 mathematicians in the country. Jude Burling, Alex Walker and Michael Lin will also receive a medal for finishing in the top 90 nationally, with Alex Walker also being awarded a book prize for finishing in the top 50!
