Masterminds finish fourth in national contest
5 May 2016
Perse students proved that they are far from ‘Pointless’ when they placed fourth in a national general knowledge competition.
The Senior team of Jamie Golding (capt), Pratap Singh, Jonathan Chan, Daniel Morgan, Oliver Phillips and Vikram Singh faced a barrage of questions from the Schools’ Challenge quizmaster in the National Finals at Westminster School. There they met and conquered Guildford Royal Grammar School in the quarter-finals, before facing and drawing with King Edward VI, Camp Hill. The match went to five minutes extra time where their competitors were slightly quicker on the buzzers and ran out deserved winners 940-820. In the final Camp Hill met – and ultimately lost to – the home team.
As reported in the Cambridge News at the time, two years ago The Perse made history in the contest, becoming the first school to land the double of both the Senior and Junior titles.
