The Great Contenders
19 Apr 2016
A strong performance in a lively debate about fracking saw the Perse Year 9 public speaking team through to the national final of the Rotary ‘Youth Speaks’ competition.
Students Archie Bowman, Kilian Meissner and Kirill Nezhentsev took part in the regional stage of the contest in Bedford on Sunday following earlier victories in the local and area stages. Their win puts them in the top four nationally out of over a thousand original teams that entered the competition.
The team were delighted to bring home the silverware, including an award for Kirill for best individual speaker at the event. Their next stop will be the national final in Lancashire on Saturday 7 May.
