Please Sir … Year 6 production of Oliver!

Year 6 took to the stage this week for three performances of the musical Oliver! by Lionel Bart.

The show has been triple-casted, meaning each child enjoyed a night in a principal role and two nights in the supporting roles. The world-famous play, currently taking a break from the West End stage, features musical theatre standards such as ‘Consider Yourself’, ‘Pick a Pocket or Two’ and ‘Food, Glorious Food’.

The cast have been hard at work on the production since September, with rehearsals recently stepping up a gear as performance night neared. Oliver! tells the story of a young workhouse boy in Victorian London who dares to ask for more. His journey through the hypocrisies of the age are intelligently satirised in Charles Dickens’ original story and unromantically portrayed in this version for the stage.

Well done to all of the pupils involved on such a fantastic production.
