Schools’ Challenge success
This year’s Senior General Knowledge teams are enjoying a run of success in the Schools’ Challenge general knowledge competition. Schools’ Challenge is a national competition based on University Challenge, with teams of four competing to answer ‘starter and ‘bonus’ questions.
On Tuesday evening, our senior teams (Perse A and Perse B) Senior team competed in a three-way East Anglia regional semi-final against Reepham High School. The Perse B team, made up of Franklin Nelson in the Lower Sixth (Captain), Henry Proudfoot (Year 11), Phoebe Penfold, Tabbi Dodds, Ethan Martin and Pavan Tanna (all Year 10), took on Reepham High School, scoring a fantastic 740 points to their 220. The Perse A team of Jamie Golding in the Upper Sixth (Captain), Pratap Singh (Lower Sixth), Jonathan Chan (Year 11), Daniel Morgan (Year 10), Oliver Phillips and Vikram Singh (both Year 9) then met Reepham, winning the match convincingly 840 to Reepham’s 360 points.
This three-way match meant the Perse A and Perse B teams then met each other, in what was to be a close match. The A team emerged victorious, winning the match 670 points to the B team’s 530 points.
This regional semi-final success means that the Perse A team now progresses to the regional final, which will be held after half term. Well done to both teams for putting in excellent performances, and good luck to the A team in the next round of the competition.
