Year 5 enjoy a magical day at Harry Potter Studios
11 Dec 2015
Year 5 had a magical tour of The Warner Bros. Studios – The Making of Harry Potter yesterday. The tour began with a talk about the discovery of the novel and the background to the creation of the film. The children impressed the tour guide with their considered and enthusiastic answers to her questions.
A film about the making of the Harry Potter films from the actors’ perspective was the next step along the way. The film gave a unique insight into the young actors’ experience and the family atmosphere amongst the crew. The doors of the Great Hall appeared behind the screen as if by magic, reminiscent of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The children enjoyed exploring the Great Hall and delighted in the beautiful Christmas decorations and imagining they were pupils at Hogwarts.
A highlight of the tour was the Hogwarts Express. The children were given the opportunity to explore the magical train and have their photo taken on platform 9 ¾. Wandering up Diagon Alley, flying a motorbike and knocking on the door of 4 Privet Drive, whilst sipping delicious butter beer were just a few of the ensuing activities.
The climax of the tour was the stunning model of Hogwarts in the snow. The breathtaking, sparkling structure accompanied by haunting music was a wonderful finale to the tour.
