Year 4 Christmas production – The Beatles, A Day in the Life
Last night, Year 4 put on their Christmas production –The Beatles, A Day in the Life – a vibrant musical about The Beatles, written by the Head of English, Mr De Albuquerque.
The play told the story of The Beatles’ rise to fame, interspersed with a selection of classic Beatles’ tracks. Highlights of the performance included: ‘Drive My Car’, ‘All You Need Is Love’ and ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’.
It was a brilliant, original production, full of colour and fun, not to mention fantastic acting and singing by Year 4. The children had a fabulous time playing guitars, drums and adorning a selection of fetching black wigs.
Year 4 worked as a team to produce the performance, developing their confidence, stage presence, a passion for The Beatles and drama. Year 3 children described the production as “breathtaking, awesome and cool” and thought it was brilliant that so many Year 4 pupils were given the opportunity to play the members of The Beatles.
Mr De Albuquerque said he had always wanted to write a play about The Beatles as he knew that their songs when sung by a mass of voices would sound fantastic. Paul Harris’ enthusiasm for the idea spurred him on to write a draft of the script. The pupils throughly enjoyed learning about The Beatles’ story and their music, and brought this enthusiasm to the stage with their excellent performances.
