Raising money for Children in Need – Pelican style!
13 Nov 2015
Children at the Pelican have had a great day today raising money in all manner of ways in aid of Children in Need.
Each year group ran special fundraising activities and sported their own spotty clothes for the day. During the week, Nursery ran a photo booth and invited fellow pupils to dress up and pose with props for a selfie. With all the photos taken, Nursery will be voting for their favourite selfie of the week. Say cheese!
Today saw Reception hold a ‘Reception’s Got Talent’ show, where pupils demonstrated a range of excellent skills, which they performed for their classmates. In the spirit of the School’s 400th anniversary year, Year 1 took part in a ‘superhero star-jump challenge’, where by the end of the day the children (and staff) are hoping to have jumped a whopping 400 superhero star-jumps.
Year 2 provided a special treat for everyone in school by making rocky road cakes to be sold on their very own cake stall. They had to follow the recipe, and weigh out the ingredients according to the recipe, before they all had the chance to crush biscuits, melt chocolate and stir the delicious mixture.
To raise even more money, pin badges and wristbands were also sold throughout the week.
Pudsey bear even made a surprise visit to the Pelican to see for himself all of the excellent work our youngest Perseans were doing for this wonderful charity.
