Yesterday, the Year 9 public speaking team won the first round of the Rotary YouthSpeaks competition and will therefore progress to the next stages of the contest.
They chose to speak on the topic of guns laws in America, and conducted all of the necessary research and preparations on their own. The presentation they delivered was persuasive and thoroughly researched.
It was a very close competition, with the final scores being 269 points to St Bede’s and 271 points to The Perse.
The judging panel also offered feedback, and the Perse team were praised overall for their teamwork and preparedness, and in particular Kilian for his humour and personality, Archie for his lively delivery, and Kirill for his mature delivery and compelling argument. Well done and good luck in the next round of the competition.
