U11 girls’ hockey success
On Friday 2 October, the Prep’s U11 girls’ hockey team took part in the U11 IAPS hockey championships, which were held at Bishop’s Stortford College. An excellent day of hockey saw the team reach the quarter finals of the East regions round of the tournament.
Twenty-four teams were divided into four pools of six teams with the top two from each then progressing to the quarter finals. The Prep team played Heathmount School, drawing 0-0 despite having a number of chances to score; their excellent goalkeeper kept the team out. The girls played Chigwell, beating them a convincing 3-0, then Littlegarth School, winning 2-0. The team next came up against Barnardiston Hall School, where they unfortunately lost 1-0. Their final match against Gresham’s School saw them win 1-0. They finished a very respectable second in their group, which gained them a place in the quarter final. Here they played Brandeston Hall School in a very challenging match, where the Prep team unfortunately lost to a very skillful and powerul side, 4-0. However to reach the quarter finals of the East regions of the tournament is a fantastic achievement.
