Students enjoy lively political debate
Senior Debating Society had its largest ever turnout yesterday when over forty students came to watch members debate the motion: This House believes the selection of Jeremy Corbyn marks the death of Labour. Proposing the motion were Year 10 students, and new members of Senior
Debating Society, Colin Tuchel and Alex Henderson; Sixth Formers, Jamie Doughty and Alex Harris opposed the motion. The topical debate was followed by some lively questions from the audience before the motion was roundly defeated.
The next debate will tackle the motion ‘This House believes the second amendment is a valuable safeguard of civil liberties’ and takes place on Wednesday 4 November.
