German exchange to Hamburg
22 Sep 2015
At the beginning of term, 10 pupils from Years 9 to 11 travelled to Germany as part of the German exchange to Hamburg.
This exchange between the Lessing Gymnasium in Hamburg and The Perse has been running for many years. Perse pupils spent five days in Germany experiencing life as a part of a German family, learning about German history and culture and improving their German. Highlights included a trip to the beautiful medieval city of Lübeck; a visit to Germany’s most famous marzipan shop and a city tour of Hamburg. Pupils went sailing on the Aussenalster, to the St. Pauli Fischmarkt and to a fireworks and light show in Hamburg. They also sampled German specialities such as sauerkraut and currywurst along with Hamburg’s best burgers and the ‘best sandwiches ever. We look forward to welcoming our students’ German exchange partners who will be visiting Cambridge in February.
